You’re My Glory (你是我的荣耀) – Chapter 28

Gu Man had mentioned before, this chapter is not sweet so be prepared 😦 PS, brother Tu has a rather grim view of the world recently. But after a period of time, he’ll recover… boo hoo hoo…

I am in the midst of choosing a web hosting service for Shushengbar.  I’ve researched and narrowed down to these 4 being BlueHost, HostGator, Siteground and Godaddy. Anybody had any experience with them? Any comment or suggestion is welcome.

Chapter 28 (translated by peanuts and edited by hoju)

She actually obtained three consecutive kills at the end!

Qiao Jing Jing took off her headphones and stood up excitedly. But she was probably too excited and forgot that she was wearing a pair of 10 cm, high-heeled shoes. She was not steady on her feet and fell to the side.

Before the audience had time to cry out in alarm, they saw Yu Tu, who was standing beside her, deftly caught her.

The camera captured this scene precisely. Not only were they filmed, the scene where they stared into each other’s eyes was frozen on the screen for a few seconds.

Yu Tu didn’t let go of his hold immediately. “Is your foot okay?”

Qiao Jing Jing was slow to react. “…It’s okay.”

Yu Tu released his hand.

On the one hand, Qiao Jing Jing was excited, and on the other hand, she wanted to cover up her embarrassment, and so she embraced her teammates one after another. After the host called them, both teams returned to the center of the stage. The host first asked for the losing side’s feelings.

The anchor said, “I am really very happy to be here. I am also very fortunate to have been sniped countless times by my goddess. I will die with no regrets.”

Qi Zhu (which literally means “riding the pig” so he was also known as God Zhu), was quite down to earth. “I really didn’t expect to lose the second game. I probably underestimated the enemy a little at the start. Zhuge Liang played very well.”

The other two passers-by voluntarily took the blame. “It’s because we suck too much.”

However, the middle-aged man whose rank was star shine equivocally mentioned: “Actually, my usual position is not solo top, so I was a little not used to it. I am usually the jungler, so we had an overlap of skills in our team.”

“You already played very well.” The host chuckled and brushed past this. “All right, thank you for the wonderful performance that you’ve brought us. I’ll first invite everyone to go to the backstage area to take a break now.”

The losing team waved goodbye to everyone, and the audience gave them warm applause.

It was the winning side’s turn. The host said, “I’ve to say Jing Jing gave the most stunning performance today. Any objections from the audience?”

“Uh… I know we have to carry out a round of mutual admiration next for commercial purposes, but can we restrain it a little bit so it’ll be a bit easier for me to give some responses?”

The special guests were just too good at making and receiving comeback lines, so the host really felt relaxed today. He wiped away some imagined sweat: “How about, who was the most awesome female player today?”

Qiao Jing Jing said, “Are you trying to flatter me to death today? At most, I’ve the highest heel.”

Everyone burst into laughter.

The host asked in a concerned manner, “So Jing Jing, is your heel (of a shoe) still okay?”

“My feet… oh, you’re asking about my shoes?”

The laughter from just a moment ago had not even stopped, and now it grew even more.

Yu Tu also couldn’t help smiling.

“Goddess, you were very awesome. The way you used Baili Shou Yue just now really was just so flashy and surprised me. I really didn’t expect it. Did you purposely practice with him?”

“Yes.”

“You and your classmate worked really well together just now, especially that charge that killed God Zhu. Do you also usually coordinate like this? He plays with Zhuge Liang and you play with Shou Yue?”

“No, he plays all positions and is very awesome with every hero. In fact, he is the one who is teaching me.”

“I saw it just now too. His Zhuge Liang’s positioning was just so snazzy. Handsome guy, you’re so awesome, you can consider playing for the professional league.”

Before Yu Tu could say anything, Qiao Jing Jing replied for him. “No, he can’t. He’s already so old.”

Yu Tu coughed.

Host: “…Are you turning against him? Do you still remember the classmate’s love he showed you just now when he provided assistance to you so many times?”

Qiao Jing Jing: “Oh… but he should do that.”

The host looked at Yu Tu. What could Yu Tu do?

Yu Tu: “I should do that.”

At this very moment, Weibo and some forums had already been completely exploded.

On a more private but very lively forum, a post with warnings that there were multiple images in it attracted a lot of replies.

“Is Qiao Jing Jing making it public? In a roundabout way, she’s making it public, right?”

“Don’t think so… If it really were true, she would hide it.”

“Didn’t they say they both are single? It felt like she intentionally mentioned that to avoid misunderstanding?”

“A fan here expressing that their attractiveness indices (rating of how good-looking somebody is) match really well. I have always been silently thinking which actor would match my girl’s attractiveness index. A new ground breaking train of thought came up today! Someone outside of the entertainment circle is even better! That way, we won’t need to have any arguments with fans on the guy’s side.”

“I’m feeling all giddy from handsome guy’s doting smile. Can I say that I was originally an anti-fan of Qiao Jing Jing? I originally watched the KPL today with bad intentions. I still don’t like Qiao Jing Jing, but I’m totally shipping her and her classmate. What am I to do? It’s the the sorrows of someone who’s obsessed with good-looking faces?”

There unexpectedly were quite a few replies below that agreed with her.

“I feel like I am not watching a competition. I am watching an idol drama.”

“It seems that the guy is just an ordinary salary earner, so Qiao Jing Jing probably turns her nose up at him?”

“Poster before me, look at the emotion showing in Qiao Jing Jing’s eyes… If it’s not good acting skill, then I think that’s love.”

“This guy’s Zhuge Liang is very showy. He totally can go and play in professional competition, then he’ll have money.”

“23333 (means hahahahaha, the more 3 means you are more happy. It is from the No.233 emoticon of Mop forum which is one of the biggest forum in China and that emoticon is a laughing figure.), didn’t you see Qiao Jing Jing complaining that he is too old? Most professional players are only seventeen to eighteen years old.”

The various topics of Qiao Jing Jing and KPL got onto hot search at top speed, and even more people went to watch the broadcast. The number of people watching the live broadcast continued to rise. Alex practically called big sister Ling immediately and excitedly sealed the deal for next year’s contract.

Big sister Ling and the fans felt like they were in a dream. They won? And what’s more, an undisputed 2:0?

The exhibition match was considered over, and the award ceremony was next.

Zhou Yin immediately returned to the special guests’ seating, and the other four from the winning team were brought to the backstage area by a staff member. Big sister Ling and Xiao Zhu were waiting there. Big sister Ling came up with an energetic hug and patted Qiao Jing Jing hard on the back.

“I’m more excited than you getting an award.”

… Useless words. The way she said that sounded as if she had won credible awards before.

Qiao Jing Jing asked her for her mobile phone, eager to go to browse through the comments. Naturally, she mainly was looking for praises. Hey three consecutive kills. The fans should have been very pleased with how awesome she’d been. However, she just got hold of the mobile phone and then a staff member from King of Glory ran over.

“Jing Jing, right away you’re going to be invited up to give out the award for the most popular player of the year, and there’s also a group photo session, so I’ll have to trouble you to come over here for a while.”

“Oh.” Qiao Jing Jing conveniently shoved the phone over to Yu Tu. “Help me look after it.”

Then she hurriedly followed after the staff member. After taking a few steps, she turned around and hugged the short-haired girl, then shook hands with the bespectacled young man.

“Thank you both of you.”

Then she hurriedly went away again.

The short-haired girl was stunned. She needed to count how many times she was hugged by the goddess today.

The bespectacled young man pushed his glasses up, blushed, and said in a low voice, “I think I am becoming a fan.”

Yu Tu lowered his head and smiled, but then it immediately faded away. His gaze fell on Qiao Jing Jing’s mobile phone in his hand. She seemed to have changed her phone case again. It gleamed particularly dazzlingly.

Big sister Ling was still very excited. “2:0, and she was even able to get three consecutive kills. I don’t even dare dream of such a perfect result.”

She turned to Yu Tu. “Teacher Yu, thank you. This time, it is all thanks to you.”

Yu Tu regained his composure. “You are welcome.”

2:0…

It was indeed a perfect ending.

Because she had to wait to take the group photo, after giving out the popularity award, it was arranged for Qiao Jing Jing to sit in the guest area for a while. During that time, she remembered Yu Tu’s coat, so she sneaked to the back row to help him grab his clothes, drawing some attention.

The sequence of events for this activity was quite long. By the time the group photo was done and Qiao Jing Jing went back, it was already after nine o’clock.

After sending away the accompanying staff member, she opened the door and looked inside. Yu Tu was the only person in the lounge. He was leaning back on the couch and seemed to be lost in thought.

Qiao Jing Jing pushed open the door and went in. Her footsteps were light and quick, so she appeared in front of him in a flash, which startled him back.

“Where is big sister Ling?”

Yu Tu looked up. Then his gaze fell on the clothes in her hand.

“She and Xiao Zhu seem to have gone to talk to the people from King of Glory. She said to have the driver take you back first.” While saying this he stood up.

“Oh.” Qiao Jing Jing handed him the clothes. “Your clothes.”

“Thank you.” He lowered his head to look at his coat. “Did you go and get it?”

“Yes. A group of people stared at me.”

Qiao Jing Jing was a little thirsty and found a bottle of mineral spring water on the table. When she was about to unscrew it, she caught sight of Yu Tu. Turning her gaze, she handed it to him.

Yu Tu helped her unscrew it, and also handed her phone to her, “Your mobile phone.”

“Oh.” Qiao Jing Jing drank a mouthful of water and searched through the phone for the driver’s phone number. “Then let’s go back first.”

Yu Tu lowered his eyes slightly. “We’re not heading in the same direction. There is a subway station nearby. I’ll go by myself.”

“Don’t.” Qiao Jing Jing was speechless. “How are you going to go? The crowd outside has now dispersed, and there are long queues at all the exits. If you go out like this, you will be surrounded.”

In the end, they left together, by the staff’s arrangement, through a special passage.

The management company’s car traveled along the quiet road at night.

The moment Qiao Jing Jing got into the car, she started to browse Weibo. She was interrupted earlier, and she felt that she had missed out on 100,000 compliments.

As expected, she was on hot search, with several hashtags such as “Qiao Jing Jing’s fellow student”, “Qiao Jing Jing King of Glory” and “Qiao Jing Jing Baili Shou Yue.”

Although she felt that there would be more praises under the “Qiao Jing Jing Baili Shou Yue” hashtag, she still couldn’t help but click on the “Qiao Jing Jing’s fellow student” hashtag.

For the time being, there was not many commercial accounts used for marketing posting under this one. Most of the posters were KPL’s or her fans.

#Qiao Jing Jing’s fellow student# Qiao Jing Jing’s fellow student is already so handsome. Does that mean the attractiveness index of their senior high school class defies natural order? Handsome guy, come to the entertainment circle. With his attractiveness index, there is completely nothing to fear. His IQ so high and his game play also great. Maybe he will have more fans than Qiao Jing Jing.

Qiao Jing Jing: “…”
I don’t accept it, I don’t believe it.

#Qiao Jing Jing’s fellow student# Jing Jing, your classmate is pretty good. IQ and attractiveness index have a guarantee. It’ll be good for any future offspring. Quickly, go and date him, play games together and don’t be a single dog (it is an internet slang referring to people who are single. In China, this state is like that of a dog, afraid of being lonely and in need of company). You ridiculed him for being old, but you forgot that you were his classmate and are the same age as him. He didn’t retaliate verbally, so that means his temperament is very good.

Qiao Jing Jing: “…”
Was this end-of-the-year marriage push? And these fans who loved and babied her like a mother were acting like a mother-in-law looking at the son-in-law, where the more she looks, the more she likes?

#Qiao Jing Jing’s fellow student# Zhuge Liang was simply too suave, ah ah, ah. He used the golden body (also known as Hui Yue is a life saving and return kill magical equipment) very suavely. I am not a fan of Qiao Jing Jing, but I am announcing that I’ve become the fan of her classmate. He’s an aerospace designer, and also in Shanghai. Then that should be the 8th Research Institute. I have a classmate working there. I’m going to go make some inquiries!

Qiao Jing Jing had been reading the first parts very happily. However, when she saw this post, her heart quivered and all her rationality came back instantly.

She thought for a moment, then went back to the trending page and took a screenshot. She drew a circle around “Qiao Jing Jing’s fellow student” and sent it to big sister Ling through WeChat.

Jing Jing: “Find a way to get rid of this trending. Be quick.”

Jing Jing: “Inform all the different commercial and marketing Weibo accounts that they are not to mention teacher Yu. If there are some that already have, delete the posts. Regardless of the cost.”

Big sister Ling replied very quickly. “We didn’t push this. It is trending naturally.”

Jing Jing: “I know. In any case, it doesn’t matter what way you have to use, but just delete them quickly. I don’t want Yu Tu to have too much attention.”

Big sister Ling: “Why? You already dragged him on stage.”

Jing Jing: “I didn’t know he wanted to go back and do research.”

Jing Jing: “The entertainment circle is so complicated. It’ll disturb him. Moreover, he can’t be so high-profile in the research institute.”

Jing Jing: “Regardless of the cost, do you understand? Should be a lot of clicks today so the people at King of Glory may not necessarily be happy that we, as the guest, are upstaging them, the host.”

She typed very fast and sent three messages in succession.

Big sister Ling: “Understood. I’ll go and deal with it right away. Hey, teacher Yu didn’t tell you that he’ll be going back to the research institute?”

Yup……

She only learned about it on the stage.

Qiao Jing Jing put away the phone and looked at Yu Tu. He was quietly looking out the car window, and from head to toe, he was enveloped in a kind of stillness.

It seemed that from the moment she returned to the backstage area, every part of Yu Tu had suddenly fallen into stillness. He was not behaving free and unconstrained like he had during the exhibition match, and also did not talk and smile naturally like he had when he was on the stage.

It was like… the expression he occasionally showed these past few days.

Suddenly, Qiao Jing Jing felt a little uneasy.

“How come I’m So Panicked did not come today?” Qiao Jing Jing clenched her phone and started to talk.

Yu Tu turned around. His voice was a bit deep and low. “He sometimes talks without thinking, so after much consideration, I decided it is better not to let him know who you are.”

“Oh.”

After a short period of time, Qiao Jing Jing asked,: “You just said on the stage that your occupation is aerospace designer. Have you changed your mind and you intend to go back to the research institute?”

“Yes.”

“When did you decide?”

“When I was in Xi’an,” Yu Tu answered briefly.

“Oh.” Qiao Jing Jing paused for a while.

“Then when are going back to work?”

“Tomorrow.”

So fast?

“Jing Jing.”

“Ah?” Qiao Jing Jing tilted her head to the side and looked at him.

“I probably can’t give you the birthday present.”

Qiao Jing Jing blinked.

Yu Tu said, “I won’t have time to play games in the future. I uninstalled the game just now.”

His eyes had been looking elsewhere the whole time, but now turned to her. In light coming in from outside of the car, his expression was indistinct and bore a feeling that could not be described.

“So, I probably will never be able to give you the unique pentakill (killing all 5 enemy champions in quick succession in one battle).”

Qiao Jing Jing wanted to say that he had just given her the triple kill. A triple kill in a competition is much more awesome than an ordinary pentakill.

But she did not say it.

She actually had a kind of feeling that Yu Tu was saying good-bye to her. However, she quickly laughed at herself for thinking too much. He merely said that he would not be playing games in the future.

In that case, what would happen to them in the future?

No gaming, no daily interaction, no common topics to talk about. And then… they would become friends who occasionally greeted each other in WeChat?

As if they had spent a long vacation together, and now their vacation was over, so they had to go back to the previous tracks of their lives.

All of a sudden, an inexplicable sense of panic was aroused in Qiao Jing Jing’s heart.

It seemed like it was not just a vacation that would be ending, but something else.

The two did not speak for a while. The silence in the car made a person’s heart and mind feel in turmoil.

The artist management company’s car drove past an intersection. Yu Tu started to talk. “I will get off at the subway station up front.”

Qiao Jing Jing looked at him.

Yu Tu brought his gaze down slightly. “It’s very convenient for me to go back from here.”

“Big sister Ling asked us to have a late supper together to celebrate.”

“I am not going since I still have to go to work tomorrow.”

<>Copyright of Fanatical, hui3r[dot]wordpress[dot]com. If you are not reading this from hui3r[dot]wordpress[dot]com, this translation was taken without consent of the translator.

The car stopped near the entrance of the subway station. After Yu Tu said goodbye, he got off. The car started to move slowly.

Outside the car window, Yu Tu’s figure was moving away. The driver began to speed up. No, Qiao Jing Jing thought, not like this. She did not know how it should be, but it could not be like this.

She abruptly felt impulsive and shouted, “Stop the car!”

The car stopped.

She pulled open the car door, got off the car, and gave chase.

“Yu Tu!”

Yu Tu halted his footsteps and turned back.

Qiao Jing Jing ran to face him, gasping for breath, but her eyes were bright as if they were lights. She looked at him, nervously and seriously asking, “Yu Tu, do you want to be together with me?”

You’re so smart, so you must know, right? You must know how much I like you.

Yu Tu looked at her. Her eyes were warm and innocent, full of the things in this world that are most deserving to be cherished, just like the girl who had watched him attentively more than a decade ago.

He knew. He had always known. He had thought she would not say it aloud, and eventually they would drift apart. This was why he had let himself indulge in everything during this last part of his time off, indulge himself in fulfilling the promise of accompanying her to the completion of the exhibition match.

He had longed to linger in it, had been irrational.

Yu Tu little by little clenched his fist tightly, then started to talk. His voice was very calm and gentle. “Jing Jing, you belong to the dazzling world, whereas I belong to another world.”

We were fortunate to journey together for a while, but we are destined to part ways.

He said: “We are not suitable for one another.”

  15. Thank you for the chapter.

  16. @peanuts, personally i haven’t created a website so i have no personal experience with the hosts that you mentioned. But i think the bandwith and usage is important. Make sure the host doesn’t penalise you if you get a lot of traffic. Also some websites mention not to sign onto one host for too long (2 yrs max) because technology will change. The other thing will be price. Some are saying that some host have cheap start up prices but renewal prices are more expensive. Good luck!

  17. Somehow,I really want to punch him

  18. I’d really like to help with the hosting but I have no clue when it comes to managed hosting in America as I mostly deal with servers that I manage/administer on my own…
