Sob, sob, I am crying tears of happiness as Shan Shan and Feng Teng are getting married and live happily ever after:) At the same time, they are tears of sadness because the novel is coming to an end. The next translation will be my last one for this novel so I will include something special. Wait, lidge will finish this novel off with interesting tidbits on life after marriage so there will be more to come:)
Officially Feb 12, 2014 is the blog’s 1 year anniversary. However, I posted my first article on Feb 17 so I’ll consider that day as the anniversary. Hui3r aka Jessy was the one who set up the blog and did most of the writings initially. I never intended to do much except as a guest writer once in a blue moon. Like the plot of a promising novel that trainwreck, I ended up blogging all alone now. Sob, sob, such sad fate:( Thus, thank you to the support of my readers to keep me going. Oh, what a coincidence this is my 100th post. I can’t believe that I’ve been so hard-working. No wonder I am exhausted:P
As a present, I am posting something akin to the bestseller of this blog, the 50 Most Influential Chinese Romance Internet Novels. The ranking should be taken with a grain of salt as I am not sure of the sampling involved. Also, different people has different taste so you may not agree with the ranking or your favourite book didn’t even make it to the list. You should utilise the comment function here to voice your disagreement, or agreement. I’ve included the genre, A = Ancient or M = Modern and whether it has HE = Happy Ending, OE = Open Ending or BE = Bad Ending to help you pick your novels.
The picture above should be in chapter 38, but since I’ve just found it I will put it here instead. According to decembi’s translation, it is basically about Shan Shan taking a self portrait with her phone and her camera phone goes ‘Ka Cha!” Then Feng Teng asking Shan Shan to go and eat pork liver! In summary, this chapter is mainly about prenuptial agreement so it is a bit boring.
Feng Teng vs Shan Shan
Simple like a child
Haha, you’ve been tricked by lidge’s picture in the last chapter, go and throw rotten eggs at her:P This chapter is rather short so I’ve included a bonus. I found the captions in baidu utilising a picture from the drama filming of a chess game between Shan Shan & Feng Teng. Feng Teng tries to teach Shan Shan how to play chess on Lunar New Year’s Eve when she stays in his house. They are pretty funny so I got decembi to translate them and share with all of you so a big thank you to her.
Happy New Year! The gist of this chapter story relates to the picture above, which is self-explanatory. The picture is chosen by lidge so any future complain should be directed to her, lol. The story is slowly winding down as I have only three more chapters to go, sob sob….
On the other hand, the drama has just started filming in Shanghai. It is confirmed Zhao Li Ying is Xue Shan Shan and Zhang Han is Feng Teng. Mel got her wish because I think Feng Teng will have a rival in the drama, which will be acted by Huang Ming, without the Xiao:P
Happy Birthday Phong! Wish you get to spend it happily with your big tiger in a sweet garden but make sure he gets to eat the cake only and not you, lol. With such short notice, I don’t know what present to give to the number 1 supporter of Come and Eat, Shan Shan and my blog. Since you love Shan Shan and Feng Teng so much, I will give them to you, haha, their radio drama trailer translation only:P You told me that you don’t really like the voice of Feng Teng in the Sound of Wing production which I translated. How do you and others like the voices of Shan Shan & Feng Teng in this version?
This is a cute chapter on Shan Shan going shopping with Feng Teng. Ladies, you’ve been warned of the consequence of going shopping with your boyfriend if he has a wicked sense of humour like Feng Teng, lol. Then, we also have that silly novelist Shuang Yi with her equally wicked sense of humour, haha… Actually, I like Shuang Yi more than Shan Shan because she is smarter and more humourous. According to Gu Man, her boyfriend Ning Ning is around Feng Teng’s age so my guess is right that Feng Teng’s age is between 29 to 31 years old as Ning Ning is 30 years old as per Silly and Elite.
This is a difficult chapter to translate because it is long and suggestive, plus Lidge and I are sick. It is a very important chapter so you need to pay full attention or else you’ll miss something significant, lol. Don’t ask me anything, just use your imagination, haha….
Have you ever wondered how your favourite Chinese novelists look like? I have decided to become a private detective like Sherlock Holmes for a few days to research and dig out their photos for you. I have tried my best but I cannot guarantee all those pictures are real. Some authors have many pictures available online and I have chosen those which look the most natural and clear. Curiosity kills the cat so you’ve been warned:P
Do your favourite authors look like your imaginations? Are you shocked or surprised by their photos? There are more to come so stay tune for Part 2 if you are curious to know how Feng Nong who is the author of A Lonesome Fragrance Waiting to be Appreciated and Fresh Gor Gor who is the author of Hua Qian Gu plus many others look like.
‘Lei Ho’ (Hello) from Hong Kong:) The featured picture is Shan Shan sleeping while studying. It is also Lidge sleeping while proofreading, which is why updating has been slow lately, lol. Haha, just kidding! Lidge has been working hard to finish this before I go on my holidays so thank you. This chapter is mainly about a love rival with a love letter, but all is not what it seems to be!
