The Twelve Years: Song of the Unsung Friends (十二年, 故人戏) — Chapter 5.3

This update mentions both a cylinder phonograph and a disc phonograph. The above is a cylinder phonograph.

Yet another significant historical event is featured in this update. Shen Xi’s healer’s heart of benevolence is shown again. Fu Tongwen understands that, so he releases her to do what she believes is right.

The Twelve Years: Song of the Unsung Friends (十二年, 故人戏) — Chapter 5.2

Lamb chops, Shen Xi’s favourite; but today she has no appetite for it. Perhaps something else would be better?

In the end, he could not harden his heart and do “the safest thing.”  Also, I love the very last line of this update. What more could Shen Xi ask for?

Thank you, everyone, for all the support you have shown. So many of you have been asking how you can help. (I honestly don’t know. Are people, other than the copyright owner, able to report these?) I even have one reader who has kindly offered to assist me in looking into getting those removed from Amazon. (Thank you, Jessica. <3) As previously said, I won’t act rashly, so for now I won’t stop what I’m doing. Posting will remain as is for the time being.

The reason why Fu Tongwen’s original and “best” plan had been to send Shen Xi to California.

The Twelve Years: Song of the Unsung Friends (十二年, 故人戏) — Chapter 4.5

It has been brought to my attention that there are English-translated ebooks of Mo Bao Fei Bao’s novels selling on Amazon. Upon inspection of all the preview chapters of all of them, I have discovered that they are blatant word-for-word copies of my translations that I have posted here on Fanatical. I have NOT given any authorization for my translations to be copied anywhere outside of this site (hui3r[dot]wordpress[dot]com), much less for monetary use. My translations have Mo Bao Fei Bao’s permission to exist and be posted, but all of the translations are for NON-COMMERCIAL use and only to be posted on this site. Please do not buy any of the English translations of Mo Bao Fei Bao novels on Amazon, as they do not have  permission to be sold there, whether it is mine or the author’s (and they would require both).

I have been translating and posting on Fanatical for 6.5 years, free of charge, without even a Patreon account, and no ad-income, because I genuinely love translating and just want to share and discuss. That’s 6.5 years of work and goodwill, only to be copy-pasted. I love the readers who visit this site; you guys are one of the reasons I’ve been doing this for so long. But to be honest, sometimes I’m genuinely discouraged. I now understand how someone can be so angry that they cry, like what’s written in c-novels, because that is what happened to me today when I discovered this. I won’t act rashly, but I will take a few days to consider this issue and also whether I belong in the translation scene anymore.

My request: if you see any of my translations being posted outside of hui3r, please do not support them; just direct people to this site. Thank you, readers, for your understanding.

“I feel it was quite fine.” Oh, Third Brother, you certainly have confidence in yourself.
