We still haven’t reached the part in the novel where the date of  Jì Chengyang’s birthday is explicitly stated, so you’ll just have to trust me that he is turning 41 this Monday. Happy birthday, Little Uncle Jì!

Now you understand why Jì Chengyang had to make sure she was as prepared as she could possibly be? 😦 Even though he can’t physically be there with her, he is supporting her all the way through it.

The end of this update also marks the end of Book I, which I consider to be about Jǐ Yi’s growing-up period. 🙂 There truly was a great blizzard on December 7, 2001 in Beijing, and it paralyzed the city’s traffic. Many people to this day remember it clearly. It will also forever be in Jǐ Yi’s memory, but for a different reason…
