Thank you for your concern. The blog, hoju and I are still well and alive. If there is no update for more than half a year, then you should start to worry 😛 I am annoyed to discover that a website posted my mini-specials without linking or crediting me. When I am annoyed, I’ve no mood to do anything. Needless to say, they also didn’t ask for my permission. I want to reiterate that I don’t want anything on this blog to be re-posted anywhere in this world. It is even more irritating that they can’t even copy well. They only copied the text but not my pretty pictures. I can’t stand having such an imperfect and ugly copy floating around. Whenever I find any pretty pictures or any grammar/spelling errors, I’ll update my posts continuously.
To celebrate the ending of the drama Eternal Love, I’ve dug up something which I’ve not posted before to share with you. Hamster also translated number nine from her Pillow Book artbook.
I know I posted this feature twice before but I’ve since modified and expanded it so the information is very current. I don’t like to make lots of posts:P I also have changed one of the cover picture so can you spot which one lol? Okay, now I’ve changed another cover picture because bongsd asked me to change Xiao Xiao’s clothes, LOL.
I am going to jump on the bandwagon and give you a preview of what up and coming c-dramas you can expect appearing on your screen soon. However my focus will primarily be on Chinese novels that have or will be adapted into dramas. They are sitting on quite some finished stock. In the meantime, some books are in the process of being filmed while some book copyrights have been sold. If you are interested in the stories, there are links to the book bar or external sources. If there is a trailer or any video, the link is in bracket. This post will be constantly updated with the latest information.
I have posted influential novels as well as attractive male characters and favourite male characters poll results. I am not going to post attractive female characters because I strongly disagree with most of the rankings. Instead, I am going to post 50 most loving couples. I am also not really satisfied with this rankings. Where are my Yun Ge & Ling gege or Yu’er & Huo Qu Bing? There is only 1 couple each from Tong Hua and Xin Yi Wu’s novels and none from Fei Wo Si Cun’s novels. However, the couples from Big Grey Wolf With Wings’ novels are over-represented and I don’t fancy most of them. In addition, there is a BL couple. I will not be writing any comment in this post, as you can read them in my previous posts but I expect you to make plenty:P I am posting some loving pictures for you to drool on, lol. I have painstakingly searched for the most appropriate pictures as I find the pictures from the source material are not good enough.
This has quite a lot of overlaps with the top 35 favourite male characters. You go and spot how many of them appear in both so you’ll know who are the popular and well-loved ones. A special mention must be given to Feng Teng, my Shan Shan’s beloved Big Boss, lol. Now, you know my self-interest in posting this article, heehee….If you are curious as to who is that ancient guy in the featured image, he is Rong Zhi (Feng Qui Huang). As for the handsome couple starring at you, they are Wei Wei & Xiao Nai (Just One Smile is Very Alluring). As usual, I only know about half of the books so no comments on those I don’t know which may be updated later.
A Happy Belated Children’s Day (1 June) to all my readers who are still a child or a child at heart:) Also, wishing all of you an early Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu) which will be on 12 June. Peanuts will be going away for about 1 month so there may be little or no update. Initially I plan to read the Pillow Book 2 during my holiday so I can post spoilers for all of you but unfortunately Tang Qi has postponed the release date from 12 June to the end of July:( Good news for those who wanna see Dong Hua Dijun naked as according to fans in Baidu, there will be ‘boating’ scenes in Book 2, lol. In the meantime, don’t miss me too much:P
Peanuts: Two months ago, Lidge sent me a Baidu poll result on China’s choice of top 35 Favourite Male Characters in Chinese romance novels. I don’t really agree with most of their rankings. As usual, He Yi Chen from Gu Man’s novel Why We Become Silent comes first. I find He Yi Chen alright but not my number one favourite but Lidge loves him. Thus, to each its own. For your information, Ye Hua is ranked fourth. I suspect Dong Hua is not ranked because the poll is outdated. If you want to know my favourite male characters, click here.
Lidge: 35 Favourite Male Characters in Chinese Romance Novels or what I like to call “35 reasons why we read Chinese romance novels”…haha. My comments are in black. Peanuts comments are in italic. Are you ready? OK, here we gooo……
Yeah, it is three lives, three worlds special time! This week we have got guests who time travel from Hua Xu Yin. I’ve translated some sugar sweet scripts as well as some sour like lemons one to offer you a more balanced reading experience, heehee…Also, the first one is written by me, nice or not, haha?
I found this cartoon in the 10 Miles of Peach Blossom artbook. It is based on an epilogue which hamster didn’t translate. Thus I will do the translation since it is short. I want to try my hand at translating at least a small part of Tang Qi’s book:) So, here is another goody to make your wait for part 2 of Book 1 of The Pillow Book more bearable:P Bai Qian wanted to change 团子’s (Tuan Zi meaning little dumpling) name to 黒子 (Hei Zi meaning black son) but our poor little dough didn’t like it 😦
Note: The translator for 10 Miles of Peach Blossom called hamster translated Ye Hua’s POV but she had taken her translation offline. Thus, please contact her directly for a copy. If you search hard enough, you’ll also find an illegal copy or two online (don’t ask me for the link since it is illegal).
Anyone miss my 3L3W specials:P? Actually I wanted to stop translating as I am getting bored with it. I think my readers are also feeling likewise. However, Lidge was reading The Pillow Book and we had some very interesing and funny discussions on it. This reignites my love flame so here is another instalment to tide you over till hamster comes back from her holi:) FYI, the last one is written by me, heehee….
I am doing something different this week. I won’t be focusing on any character but I will be featuring all of Tang Qi’s ancient novels. For those who did not read Hua Xu Yin, don’t worry as you can still understand the special. All you need to know is the protagonists in Hua Xu Yin are Su Yu (also known as Mu Yan) and Ye Zhen (also known as A Fu). They are a sweet & loving pair with an adorable pet tiger called xiao huang who loves to eat roast chicken. All the sub-plots in Hua Xu Yin can be considered sad tragedies:( Nonetheless there is also some dry humour in that book which is Tang Qi’s trademark:)
I need to reiterate most of these specials are originally written by Tang Qi’s many talented fans in baidu. I only search, read, understand, compile, sort, translate, edit and modify with my ‘poetic license’:P
