Such a nice ending… I am dreading your prediction about Zhuang because I really really don’t like him. Like, on one hand there is douchebag-for-a-reason-turned-nice and on the other there is the typical toddler reaction of tease/bully the girl you like and expect it to work. Some of the thing he has said are truly cruel, and I hate it when people explain it away as bluntness. Being blunt doesn’t mean you suddenly get the right to forget about basic human decency!

Gu Man just confirmed that Book 2 will have to wait a few more months since she is not feeling it yet. In the meantime, she started this new novel called “You are my Pride” which is equally as addictive. After reading the first 19 chapters I rather she finish this new story first before she gets back to Book 2 lol. I’m actually glad that she has decided to wait until she is happy with Book 2 rather than rushing it to please her fans. Some of her fans left many angry messages after she announced the delay last week. Oh and on her weibo, she did confirm that Yu Sen is not using Watermelon in any way and his character is sincere =)

I dont know about others, but i feel in their love story, something is missing..i din feel the kind of love between them is similar to what she had for Xu.. it feels like she is getting out with him because he likes him and ofcourse… The accident.. ofcourse i seems like Xu is actually not that bad, there is much more to be yet described from his point of view also…. Xu likes her alot, but ofcourse ……he has his own problems to solve first… May be he is trying to make himself worthy for her first… So i dont envy him a bit…. I feel you. Haha have you read the manga hirunaka no ryuusei? It has a similar feeling to this novel. Idk but in my mind ZX is the ML (but i know obviously its LYS right? ) i mean the way gu man describe her love for ZX is too ideal. But i think the novel wants to explore a different kind of love. A love that blooms after “the one that got away” or somerhing like that.

LYS is simply amazing but ZX has become a innocent punching bag here. This story was from NXG point of view, started after she has given up on him. I do feel part 2 will be from ZX point of view & will show us his thoughts past & present.
ZX is just a victim of circumstance, like when he wants to do something for NXG it’s misjudged. For example treat in first chapter, when he got irritated for her coming early he might possibly planning to take her out alone on the pretext of missed treat. He also tried to treat her in hotel after exam center but she was rude. Somewhere around chapter 17 it’s mentioned he even cooked for her, which she judged as avoiding a takeout. Isn’t it still romantic in his possible way?
Their walk back on last day of school, am sure he had the money for taxi but wanted to spend time with her, how else would he suggest buying new shoes for her.
As for the msgs, msgs from NXG to him last & some before must have been deleted by Rong Rong & he is clueless. YR must have acted pitiful saying her phone not working and deleted the msgs which he has not read, that’s why he must have got her a new phone to keep her off which she showed off to NXG.
I do really want to read book 2 to know his side of the story, alas the wait is getting longer. I believe YLS will actually act as a catalyst to bring them together somehow. He is good man plus a doctor, he will try to mend 2 broken hearts.

You may be right, but what is it with his attitude towards the incident about the job offer? No one ever apologized to her properly and he didn’t either. One can be a loof but doesn’t mean allowing one to have no manner.
He never draw a clear line either between friendship and love. I think he is just like all their so called friends who think the world owe them something just because they are poor. As if xi guang can ask in which family to be born and as if a fortune being pampered by her family is a sin. What kind of friends don’t even know her sadness for having a broken family. What kind of friend and lover only see and judge her by the content of her wallet.

I love LYS and NXG together. I felt that throughout the first book she focused on making the reader fall in love with LYS and I only hope they stay together in book 2. If they do end up breaking up, I hope it is only temporary because in the first few chapters I really disliked her university friends. They were not very nice, weren’t very supportive, and that one girl who was a back stabber. ZX says he likes her, but didn’t even stand up for her when Rong Rong was being a huge b*th. Whatever. LYS was upfront, made it clear that he liked NXG and was there for her. I’m so happy for NXG because she moved away, found love, and got away from that toxic environment. It really felt like she grew up and attained happiness. I would be devastated if she was thrown back into that environment.

About XG and LXS, I am rooting for them from the bottom of my heart but I also thought its like she accepted him due to sympathy and his similarity w her for being rejected ruthlessly.. LXS also is fortunate bcoz he did not have evil admirer by his side like ZX.. That is why if on Book 2, ZX still did not disposed YR cleanly and sincerely apologized to XG then XG might as well stayed forever with LXS to avoid unnecessary hurt in the future.. She did not love LXS but LXS will always treated her good..

Wow, just read this and all I can say is that I don’t necessarily need Book 2. But that would unfair for those ZX fans. I think ZX needs a closure somehow.
What I really like in this novel is that, it doesn’t end up with your first love. Just like mine. Most CNovels tell a beautiful tale about first loves and such but in real life, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m actually contemplating that if rebirth or reincarnation is possible, I’d like to have a childhood sweetheart. Or just have a first love who also loves me back. But this novel is like a reality check.

This is actually my first time commenting on any C-novel that I’ve read (and believe me, I’ve read many) because I just want to say a huge thanks to you guys for translating all Gu Man’s works. I love this author’s works because her words are simple yet strong and impactful. This author also create a strong hero who knows what he wanted in his life and didn’t deny himself for the love that he feels to the heroine, which I think is the strongest point of all Gu Man’s works. Just like Feng Teng (which is still my favourite character so far for all Gu Man’s works), Xiao Nai and He Yi Chen, all of them understand what their heart wants and they follow that desire until the end
That’s why, to me, this will be the end of Blazing Sunlight and I won’t read the second book no matter what happens. Whether Xi Guang will end up with Lin Yu Shen or not, I will stop at this first book because I’m already satisfied with the ending and I want to think that they have a happy ending together. This is because I genuinely care and love for Lin Yu Shen, as he’s such a conflicting character, someone who holds a lot of things in his heart but when I know what’s inside his heart (which is Xi Guang) I just love him so so much. He’s always been so mature, waiting for Xi Guang to answer his love without trying to push her, and just be there for her when she needed him. What more can a girl want?
I was actually a little bit disappointed when reading the first 15 chapters because Zhuang Xu is so not like Gu Man’s hero, because he’s just so complicated, too bitter without even proper reason to do that, and he didn’t care about Xi Guang lilke Lin Yu Shen did. To him, it’s more like an obsession to have Xi Guang because Xi Guang said she loves him and so when Xi Guang suddenly show no interest he started to pursue her, but in a very weird way. I was actually surprised that he sent Xi Guang the thesis for her to use. It feels like he’s belittling Xi Guang’s capability so much and so sure that she’s not going to be able to write a good thesis so he made one for her instead of teaching her how to do it properly (like Feng Teng teaching Shan Shan to be more brave, or how Xiao Nai provide the chance to Wei Wei to prove herself capable of doing more). That’s the dividing line for me and I’m so so happy that we got a hero like Lin Yu Shen who cares and helps Xi Guang to be a better person rather than just pampering her. Just like Xi Guang said, that she’s able to fall asleep because the breathing of the person next to her is so calming. If that’s not love, then what is?
Now this is becoming long and I’m really sorry for rambling here D: But I really really appreciate the work that you guys put here and just know that, even if I don’t comment often, I’ll always be here and continue to wait for more updates from you guys, especially Gu Man’s works 😀

I completely agree with you. LYS also hsad misunderstood her before and he suffered even more than ZX with that misunderstanding. He lost his dream future, lost his dream job as a surgeon with the thought it was all for a girl (xi guang) who didn’t even care for him.
But his love was bigger that gave them both the chance to be together… ZX has done completely the opposite thing.
LYS deserves her more.

That’s exactly why I actually love Lin Yu Sen more. He got his dream crushed, and we all could see that he loves and enjoys being a doctor, and a surgeon on top of that. How sad his life would be to get that dream taken from him? And he had said it to Xi Guang before, that he had moped about it for a year and he wouldn’t do it for a lifetime. So we all could see that he had resigned to the fate and moving on from his past. As for Zhuang Xu, he’s chained in the past of his own wrong doings, where he only become bitter because he’s poor and Xi Guang is rich. Which is ridiculous. Happiness is not all about money, and if Zhuang Xu thinks that earning money means giving Xi Guang happiness, then he shouldn’t be with Xi Guang because it will be a toxic relationship. He would never be satisfied no matter how much he earned, and Xi Guang will be left behind because he will focus on getting money more than making Xi Guang happy

Yes.. ZX is a self-righteous man. What is wrong anyway with being rich and pampered? Wouldn’t he also pamper his own children n wife if he had money? Is Xiguang becoming a sinner just by being born in a rich family? It’s not like XG is an arrogant bitch. Frankly speaking, it has always been him n his childhood sweetheart who had been mean to her.
They both never even bother to apologize after they found out the truth and he even dares to speak to her that way in the wedding party.
Last but not least.. Even if XG break up with LYS, it would still be a big mistake to go for Zhuangxu. He is a man without a back bone, can’t even differentiate right and wrong manner.. Can’t treat her well, never really care about her feeling.
He only cares about his own insecurity syndrome, extremely selfish.
He can’t set his standpoint firmly and keep an ambiguous relationship with his childhood friend.
Xiguang would only repeat her mother’s history if she chooses to be with ZX. Her relationship would always be followed by the 3rd woman’s shadow…
She would suffers again.
If she can’t get LYS, she better just find another man..

Ok didn’t like the begging, but as soon as tart reading it and feeling for the XG heartache and silent pain and frustrated at ZX coldness. Then LYS step in and the blazing Sunlight finally came. Finished this first book with happy feeling until I read that there a part two and will be breakup. So got impatient and MTL the second book and you right about the author like to leave reader hanging with her ending,
So now really confused and frustrated and waiting for your transalation or recap on book 2 to enlighten me.

Its not yet released yet? ^-^ So many people are saying (including the translator) that the second book will be from ZX’s point of view and that could be true too. But what I am thinking is that though the first love will return and will have an important role, LYS -Nxg will not be forsaken I think it will be similar to her dad’s story only that this time she will make a choice different from him. I feel like that will be kind of a poetic justice.

AHHH thank you for translating this! I loved Lin Yu Sen and watermelon. Their relationship was funny, then cute, then also touching. I really preferred LYS’s character for reasons the other readers pointed out already. At the end of the day, he communicates with her to clear up misunderstandings — be it being honest about courting, or his misunderstanding about the accident. I loved that they tried being together in the end.
I’m happy it ended here. Weather or not Book 2 will be published anytime soon, I still feel satisfied with the current ending. 🥰

I can’t guess how book 2 will turn out but love can’t be forced either XG will realise she’s still in love with ZX or that she has moved on with LYS of course they’re is gonna be many factors to overcome to prove what is what but for me I’m somehow rooting for ZX cause I feel they have more chemistry and he really loves her though he has never expressed it he’s done everything to be worthy of her maybe he was thinking once I’m worthy and can be on the same footing as her I’ll marry her cause he said he was probably gonna be the last one to be married and he had to work harder and although LYS is a nice guy like I said love can’t be forced many of us here have read many novels and it’s not always the person who’s always by her side or sacrificed more gets the girl we can’t just determined on that and it was an accident an unfortunate one at that and if XG doesn’t wholeheartedly loves him its better to leave him so he can find someone who will love him wholeheartedly as he deserves I’m sure both of our males will work harder in the book 2 anyways good luck to both of them and also hope that book 2 will be released soon and translated soon and also a big big thankyou for translating this wonderful novel

This one is a great story and waiting for the second book is going to be the death of me………
I am on board with the LYS X NXG ship although I have doubts about the two of them ending up together.
LYS and NXG can get along well and have mutual understanding of each other because they have almost the same personality. Theg are both willing to be hurt just for the person they love and they are both persistent about loving someone. That is why I have this strange impression that NXG will leave LYS to chase after ZX while LYS will continue chasing NXG, thus creating this miserable chase.
But I like LYS better than ZX for NXG, cause LYS have the same personality as NXG he knows how to make her happy. LYS is also willing to love her under any circumstance proven by how he kept on thinking about how they can be together despite him still believing that she was the one who invited him the day he got into an accident. And that is such a huge plus point for him unlike ZX. ZX even though I can sense that he has some feelings for our MC I also sense that he has some hesitations about getting together with her due to their difference in social status hence the remarks he made to MC during the wedding and also the reason why he accepted work with a large pay and refuses to owe MC anything, he fears that their relationship would be perceived as something that was created due to materialistic desire, but what he did in the stoty is a foolish move I think. Due to his insecurities he distanced himself with MC and did not even care to explain to her about his feelings and what really is his relationship with that b*tch RongRong which caused our MC hurt and has prevented them in getting together and reduced as acquaintances who went to the same university. However they still have a chance as long as ZX would see the error in his ways and correct them. As for LYS, I think one of the reasons why MC wants to date her is partially because she wants to fall in love with him but leaning more to the side of feeling pity for him. MC can see herself with LYS that is why she pity him and does’nt want him to get hurt that is why she dates him despite still not being completely over ZX as evidenced by how she changed her phone and most likely her number. This feelings of hers is ghe biggest obstacle in LYS and her relationship, and LYS cannot even do anything about it except give more effort and risk being hurt more cause the problem roots from MC.

I really liked the way they are together – XG and LYS really feel like a natural and compatible couple. But my heart’s truly broken for ZX. I wish he has a chance for happiness too.

Re-reading this again, I surely hope she ends up with Lin yu sen and that with book2, she would be able to fully move on from Zhuang xu. If not, I want yu sen and xi guang to be happy, even if they won’t be together (most especially yu sen).

Honestly I wasn’t going to continue the book after reading the first 12 chapters as I really didn’t like Zhuang Xu and I was kinda disappointed because I really like the works of Gu Man but the first guy didn’t give the male lead vibe from her other novels. But out of curiosity I checked the last chapter and saw Lin’s name and I get interested into reading and it’s worth it because I just like Lin’s character here and I’m happy with the ending cause it seemed the best to me… And that’s why I’m not going to read the 2nd book because I can’t imagine the book without LSY
And I have to appreciate the effort and hard work the editors did here,,so thanks a lot for that…

I see so many comments about ZX being misunderstood but he is utterly toxic. You don’t act like that towards someone you supposedly have feelings for, and I hope the second book won’t try to force them together – it’s time to stop glorifying toxic and borderline abusive male leads. I’d much rather root for someone mature and who acts like an actual human being.
Also, I hope it’s not Zhao Lusi that will play the lead, as a commenter abover said. Isn’t Watermelon supposed to be really beautiful?

I am really sorry that finishing this novel took me months since I was so pissed off that the male lead who was pertained as the universitymate that didn’t even bother to invite her was rarely mentioned in the middle to final part of book one. And, the fact he was the one (Zhuang Zhu) described in the blurb but LYS story was most told in the book one. So I was glad I tried to finish it and yeah I also became the shipper of Sen-Xiguang. I love the slowly building up of their love story. However, I felt that XiGuang had this deep feeling for ZX wc is really true when it comes to pertaining to ‘first love’. [For my experience, until now I haven’t forgotten my first love, but it is a feeling of just being in love for the first time not the person precisely] I am extremely happy that both found each other. Both have pitiful experience in life and love; both deserve to have a beautiful life together.
Further, I hope Book2 will be released at this time because I also wanted to know what kind of life did ZX the ML have gone through the past years. Surely there will be another side of his story. So either way, or either person to whom NXG will end up, it really doesn’t matter as long as she would be cherished by the man she would ended up with.
So I hope Writer Gu Man will start to do the second book soon since this is way way way overdue.
PS: Dad is a little over the top with how XG would be treated /protected but could totally understand him. A parent is always a parent.

I don´t think Zhuang Xu is toxic or a psycho, maybe he is just a guy who doesn´t know how to express what he thinks or feel, maybe to much shy and when he does something is very abrupt (some actions lead us to think the worst of him, but there are some it´s subliminar), maybe embarrassed for being poor and bc of this he thinks he doesn´t deserve her. Remember this story is told by FL point of view. I would like to see more of him and if they aren´t going to be together, then I think she could write a very good closure for ZX fans.
